ELDERCARE IN HOME

The search for eldercare services for your loved one can become a daunting task. Far too often, the company that you call for information turns out to be headquartered in another province with no real local presence. Other companies hire caregivers with minimal if any training. This is why Eldercare in Home is so different. Our founder is a lifelong resident of Cote St Luc and a certified eldercare specialist.

Riva Grischkan, the founder of Eldercare in Home, attended Concordia University in Montreal studying sociology. During these years she assisted in the care of her ninety-year-old grandfather and developed a passion for working with seniors. She then embarked on a training program that focused on all facets of senior care that included such diverse fields as psychology, microbiology, physiology, physical therapy, etc. Following completion of the program, she became certified in eldercare management as well as CPR.

During an internship at the Maimonides Geriatric Center, located in Cote St Luc, she developed the hands-on skills and proficiency that today are embedded in the delivery of services by Eldercare in Home. In addition, the focus on compassion, patience and preventive care, acquired from her time in this facility, are the cornerstone of the company’s philosophy.

By her guidance, the focus on providing superior care to senior clients, led to the development of a unique business model. The concept of simply providing companionship, which is the typical approach of most other companies, was replaced with a pro-active program approach to enhance senior well-being. Key elements of this programs include cognitive stimulation through active interaction, daily vital sign monitoring as an assessment tool to identify early changes in health and frequent communication with family members.

Perhaps one of the most visionary steps embedded within Eldercare in Home was the addition of a doctor consultant to provide real time assistance and guidance for any concerning issues with the senior. As a part of this program, both the family and the senior’s own physician are immediately notified at the time the consultant is contacted. Access to a doctor consultant for emergent situations, serves to provide a safety net for acute events that would otherwise require an ambulance trip to an emergency room.

Above all, we strive to offer respectful, compassionate care by a caregiver trained in CPR who can provide customized services along with close monitoring of the individual’s overall health in the comfort of your home. We are local in your community as our president is a lifelong Cote St. Luc resident.

Eldercare in Home
provides services to Montreal seniors in the suburbs of Cote St Luc, Hampstead, NDG, Snowdon, Westmount, Town of Mt. Royal and select West Island communities. While focusing on providing unique and superior services, Ms. Grischkan is looking forward to the further growth of the company and providing even more innovative programs in the near future.
